This strikingly modern living room has been zoned into two areas using colour. A seating area is made cosy with dramatic inky blue walls and modern modular seating. The opposite white walls and lime flooring makes the room wonderfully open and spacious. Lots of texture and pops of pattern creates Scandi comfort and a graphic owl portrait adds a touch of endearing humour.
Let’s start with an uplifting pastel design. This cheerful white living room uses pale yellow as a primary accent, with many colors of the rainbow appearing throughout. The layout is open but wraps around a central volume in an L-shape for better division. Abundant windows don’t sacrifice any privacy at all thanks to the huge hedges outside. Stunning feature lighting guides the eye from one functional area to the next. Here, the sofa arrangement basks in the light of the Skygarden lamp by Marcel Wanders. Artwork behind the dining table incorporates some of the colors found in the living room.
This Image Known for her exquisite natural wallpaper motifs, Marthe Armitage is the grande dame of hand-produced prints and this design is no exception. Here, heavy milky white linen upholstery and an artisan wool rug keep the look textural and fresh. The massive brick wall has a barnlike feel, even though the house is a new-build. As well as creating a rustic look, the brickwork contrasts wonderfully with the deep purple of the upholstery. Cream furniture acts as a highlighter, creating a perfectly balanced scheme.
