One of the benefits resulting from the diminishing rainfall now being experienced Australia wide is the growing realisation by the community that there are alternatives to the vast areas of lawn traditionally found around suburban houses.
Crassula tetragona are drought tolerant plants that are attractive, carefree and always look green. They are often used in bonsai pots to look like pine trees. In the ground, they grow up to 4 feet tall. They will branch at the tips and can be used as a low, informal hedge. Crassula are perfect for dry landscapes with other succulent plants and cacti. Their color can vary from green to deep, bluish green. They can take full sun to light shade, love heat and are easy to root and grow. If you think you have a brown thumb, this is the plant for you!
This Image Every home should be planned with a view to making it maintenance free as much as possible. Not many have time or interest in gardening but pleasant surroundings make any house into a comfortable home. Landscaping is, therefore, essential to get right but not necessarily to cost a fortune.
