I will use that image.
Je vais utiliser cette image.
Go to [ Image > Adjustments > Threshold], drag the arrow until you have something correct, I can't really see for you.
Allez à [ Image > Réglages > Seuil ], bougez la flèche jusqu'à ce que vous ayez quelque chose de correct, je ne peux pas vraiment voir pour vous.
Set the blending mode to Overlay.
Changez le mode de fusion à Incrustation.
Make a new layer [ Layer > New > Layer ] or press Shift + Ctrl + N. Put it below your original layer. Then fill
it with a gradient. I hope yours looks better!
Faîtes un nouveau calque [ Calque > Nouveau > Calque ] ou appuyez Maj + Ctrl + N. Mettez-le en dessous de votre calque original. Remplissez-le
d'un dégradé. Et voilà! J'espère que le vôtre est plus réussi.

how would i put the new layour under the original picture?
err... i don't understand the layer part... i can't change the blending options when the picture is in background form. so you mean to have to create a background copy and another layer?
when it says set to overlay,you cant do that
I think after you have done step 2, go to Layer > New Layer > Background From Layer , it will change the name of the layer from Background Layer to Layer 0 , like the screenshot. Worked for me...
